Coming from Bali<\/a> I am on the plane of Singapore Airlines to Changi Airport in Singapore. Wow, it is already my eighth time here. From Singapore I\u2019m heading further to Koh Samui where I will spend one month.<\/p>\n

\"Singapore<\/p>\n

Koh Samui, Thailand<\/h2>\n

I set foot on this small paradisiacal island and my first impression: What a cozy, tiny and exotic island airport surrounded by greenery.\u00a0At Chaweng Beach, in the east of the island, I have rented a small bungalow right at the beach. There is a lot going on here: Parties, many Thais and travelers and entertainment. After one week budget holidays in a bungalow without air-conditioning at 35 degrees, I am moving to Kandaburi Resort & Spa, a close-by located luxury resort. I love contrast programs and here one is able to afford luxury.<\/p>\n

\"Koh<\/p>\n

After a few days of doing nothing, numerous Thai massages and relaxing at pool and beach, I am renting a scooter and start to explore the island on my own.\u00a0I cross\u00a0an ancient monastery and temple complexes, Buddha statues, beautiful landscapes, beaches, local markets as well as impressive resorts like the \u201cW\u201d, Four Seasons and Nikki Beach of Koh Samui.<\/p>\n

\"Koh<\/p>\n

\"Exploring<\/p>\n

I stop near a piece of woodlands and climb over huge rocks, deeper into the forest, passing elephants and an ancient cultural site until I finally reach the spectacular waterfalls Na Mueang I and later the Wang Sao Tong waterfall. I am so sweaty and jump right into the water!<\/p>\n

\"Sightseeing<\/p>\n

\"Discovering<\/p>\n

Back at the scooter I manage to knock it over as well as the six scooters standing next to it. Wtf \u2013 what a shock. Fortunately, nothing has happened and I quickly leave. I am back in Chaweng at night. Here I am taken into a travesty show. Chawengs night life is an adventure; something between vacation, bars, electro music, sex tourism and many friendlyThais, backpacker, honeymooners and flirty ladyboys.<\/p>\n

\"Dinner<\/p>\n

\"Koh<\/p>\n

After almost three weeks in the hustle and highlife of Chaweng, I spend my last week far away from all that what I liked so much in the beginning. I am moving to the Coco Palm Beach Resort at the beautiful Maenam Beach in the calmer north of Koh Samui. Thanks to off-season (May) I have a bungalow villa with a private pool as well as the whole resort plus beach nearly only for myself \u2013 how peaceful and luxurious and what a contrast!<\/p>\n

\"Relaxing<\/p>\n

After a couple of days of deep relaxation I go on a boat tour to Angthong National Marine Park of Koh Samui. The last highlight of my stay on this magnificent island.<\/p>\n

\"Exploring<\/p>\n

The month has passed very quickly and after four months in Asia<\/a> I fly back to Europe with mixed feelings. I keep asking myself how long it is going to take until I will return to Asia.<\/p>\n

7 tips for Koh Samui:<\/strong><\/h2>\n

  1. Accommodation: Your Place, Kandaburi Resort & Spa (Chaweng); Coco Palm Beach Resort (Maenam) \u2013 via booking.com \u2013 here you save the most.<\/li>\n
  2. Must do: Renting a scooter and discover the island on your own! Always fill up petrol at the gas station not on the street! Explore the following sites:<\/li>\n
  3. Things to see: Secret Buddha Garden, Big Buddha Temple (Wat Phra Yai), mummified monk\u00a0(Luang Pho Daeng) inWat Khunaram Temple,\u00a0Hin Ta & Hin Yai (Grandmother and grandfather rock), Na Mueang I and Wang Sao Tong waterfalls, Nikki Beach, Chaweng and Nae Mang Beach.<\/li>\n
  4. Very good, professional and traditional Thai massage at My Friend Day Spa in Chaweng, \u20ac 5 for 60 minutes.<\/li>\n
  5. Opposite is a small travel agency where you can book amazing island trips for little money. They also provide you with valuable insider tips and information.<\/li>\n
