We have experienced a lot and there is lot to tell. So, I am just going to start. After our short visit in Croatia we head back to Serbia towards Novi Sad, but not along the EuroVelo 6. Instead we go through Fruska Gora Nationalpark together with Sarah. It is 35 degrees, the sun is burning and bees are flying all around us. The path is going up and down permanently and after a couple of hours we reach 1000 elevation meters finally. Uff… what an exhausting afternoon!
In the evening we are standing at the outskirts of Novi Sad and enjoying the sunset at the liberty bridge from where you have a great view over the whole city and the city beach. As fate would have it we meet Neven who has opened a hostel in the old city together with his wife Tijana and the help of many friends. The building is from the 18th century and is under heritage protection. Tijana tells me with how much love and effort they have managed the 6-month enduring renovation. And it shows! I recommend everyone who comes here to stay in this hostel. The Varad Inn has a great position, a 9.6 rating from booking.com and if we came here one week later, it would be the perfect location close to the Exit festival. Bad timing!
Nevertheless, even without the festival I am already in love with this city. We take a walk along the promenade which is very lively during day and night and strall through the beautiful city center. I spend one day in the university library writing a blog post and feeling like an Erasmus student again. Wonderful.
Night life here is fancy and the city beach is my personal highlight. Even Babs is impressed by how pretty Serbian women are. Right now the international film festival Cinema City takes place in Novi Sad and we stop by late at night – our choice: An interesting movie about Depeche Mode. Afterwards we finish the day while having a drink at the beach.
Our last day in Novi Sad ends with another highlight: We are meeting Sanja who owns a catamaran together with Alex and they are taking us to view the sunset from the River Danube. Beautiful and so romantic. I do not want to leave Novi Sad.
Read how we (very spontaneously) traveled back to Novi Sad after we have left to visit the best mid-sized electro festival in Europe – the Exit Festival.
We told you that Novi Sad is magical …:) Enjoy!
Yes, it is so great!! Had a perfect stay here. Hope you guys are doing great! Cu :)
